Guacamole is a Mexican side dish that can be paired with just about any kind of food. It is a good tortilla chip dip as well as for fries. You have the option to make the avocados chunky by not mashing the avocados. Avocados are low in calories if it is prepared the right way.
If you are playing on the safe side, you can create a traditional guacamole recipe. For this, you will need the following:
- Lime juice
- Mortar and pestle
Cut the avocado into half and remove the seed. Place the flesh into a bowl and place lime juice and salt. Mix everything using a mortar and pestle. As an alternative, you can also just use a spoon or fork to mix everything. Once you have a smooth consistency, you can add more lime juice or salt to taste. You can always add more lime juice for a sour taste.
Spice Up the Guacamole
If you are into hot sauce and everything, you can add hot peppers such as Jalapeno, cayenne pepper or cilantro. These are the things to add to your original mix:
- Finely diced tomatoes without seeds
- Peppers with seeds removed
- Chopped garlic
- Chopped cilantro
- Other herbs
